If your house was burning, what would you take with you?

If your house was burning, what would you take with you? It’s a conflict between what’s practical, valuable and sentimental. What you would take reflects your interests, background and priorities. Think of it as an interview condensed into one question

Hello Joie, tell us about yourself and where you live!

Hello! I’m Joie and I’m seventeen this year and happily residing in sunny Singapore. I’m currently waiting to school in La Salle, where I’ll graduate with a Diploma in Music. Singing has always been such a joy for me, it’s the best form of expression. I’m an only child and it does get lonely at times. I guess that’s how I developed my love for music! My dad and mom actually sing too, so yea.

What do you love to do during your free time

There’s actually so much to do! Movies, coffee, friends, singing, jamming, reading, going to church, jamming! The list goes on! Oh, I have this little thing for my guitar, she’s always there for me when I”m lonely, very sweet!

You love surprises don’t you, tell us more!

Definitely! Actually, there was this once where I remember so well. It was a terrible day for me and cramps were literally killing me, I thought it was the end of the world until an uninvited guest showed up at my door with a box of chocolates and pills to save me! I was genuinely so touched, it’s times like these where it matters the most! *guys, hint hint*

AND!!! I have to tell you one more. A girlfriend of mine did the sweetest thing for me on my birthday. She got balloons (oh they’re so pretty), cards, gifts and most importantly, all my friends together, planned a SURPRISE lunch and took the effort to get tiaras for all of us! To make it even better, I had all the attention cause my tiara was the BIGGEST!

Tell us something mean that you want to or have done

Oh dear, must I really! Ok I must share this although I’m really not a big bully at all ok! I had this classmate who sat in front of me in class. She had really puffy curly hair, like CANDY FLOSS! Then the day finally came, a teacher was the reason for what I did. He was boring us to death and I had to find something to entertain myself and guess who did! That’s right, I decided to put stationery in her hair, bit by bit, one by one. It actually stayed inside until she turned around to talk to me. It then all flew out like bees leaving their hives! We’ve been really close friends since!

Would you consider yourself an impulsive person, why

I would! Because I often feel regretful. Haha, but it has gotten better. I always do something, get all red and embarrassed and regret it later. This is always because I never think twice before I do it, I better not choose a boy this way.

If the world comes to and end in 2012 and you have 3 minutes to sing a song, what would it be?

Probably Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus! I love that song.

And if the world doesn’t end in 2012, what are your plans.

I would love to continue doing music and pursue it.

Where’s your favourite place to shop

Shopping!!! It’s my specialty, haha! I love Forever 21 and flea markets, it’s always so lovely to finally something cheap and nice after a whole day of searching. On the days I get lazy, I simply move my mouse and click on different websites! We have really cool online shops in singapore which are called blogshops! They are simply bloggers who sell things on their blogs and we call them blogshops. Ok, maybe everyone else does!

What’s on your ipod/reading list

I have 1544 songs, 69 videos and about 200 pictures? I’m actually very into Indie music now. Some of my greatest influences are Norah Jones, Mandy Moore and Alicia Keys.

You had a chance to customise your own Snupped case, how was it & why did you pick that design?

I love my Snupped case to bits! I picked that design cuz I fell in love with the print when I first saw it! It came with my favourite red polka dots on the interior. P.s My favourite colour is red hehehe

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a super power, what would it be?

Definitely to be Invisible so that I can sneak around and watch people going unnoticed, + I can put more stationaries in people’s hair!

Where do you want to travel to and why

Kenya. I have always wanted to go to Kenya. I just want to spend time with the kids and play games with them!

If you could sing a song for Snupped, what would you sing?

Happy by NeverShoutNever! Haha.

Sparkle me Alyssa Lau…

We caught up with Alyssa in Canada over the weekend. Time wasn’t on our side and with the sun fast setting we had to make it really quick, Alyssa warned us that she’ll turn into a monster if the weather turns too cold. Have fun!

Unable to move, we offered her our thoughts…

Hello, tell us everything about yourself and where you live!

Hello! My name is Alyssa, and I’m a 20-year-old 3rd-year Chemistry Major who lives in a place too cold for my liking (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada). Contrary to popular belief, Canada isn’t actually that cold. I just like to complain about the weather. If you wanted to know everything about me, my birthday is in February, I’m almost 5’6, and I’ve recently dyed my hair after telling myself for 8 years that I would never dye it again. I get bored easily with things, and I guess blogging helps to alleviate this incessant boredom. Most people assume that I can speak Chinese, but weirdly enough, I can speak more French than Chinese, and that’s not saying too much.

What do you do during your free time

I enjoy blogging in what spare time I have, but other than that, I sometimes like to play soccer if I’m not too lazy and I thoroughly enjoy taking my camera out for walks when it’s not too cold outside. I also like to play video games when I can scrape up enough time.

Who’s the guy who blogs with you at theordinarypeople and have you every gotten into a big fight with him

Kurtis would be his name. He’s my cousin and is a year younger than me. We’ve actually always gotten along pretty well. The biggest fight we had was probably when we were much younger (let’s say 5 years old) and playing with Pokemon toys. Even then I don’t think we fought.

Tell us something naughty that you want to or have done

Something naughty that I want to do would probably get a tattoo. Heck, it’s a little depressing that this is considered ‘naughty’, but my parents would not be too pleased with me if I did so.

Would you consider yourself an impulsive person, why

I wouldn’t quite consider myself an impulsive person most of the time. It really depends on my mood. I like to think that I’m relatively calm and collected…

If the world comes to and end in 2012 and you’re only allowed to prepare one outfit, what would it be

If I was only allowed to prepare one outfit for the end of the world, it’d have to be something insanely comfortable. So I might have to choose what I’m wearing right now—super comfy leopard-print leggings and my Sid Neigum tee. I might as well add in a pair of sneakers with that.

Where’s your favourite place to shop

My favourite place to shop would be sample sales, Urban Outfitters, or anywhere online. Words cannot express my love for shopping.

What’s on your ipod/reading list

Currently on replay on my iPod is Golden Baby by Coeur de Pirate, Call me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen (it’s addicting!), Titanium by David Guetta Ft. Sia, and Somebody That I Used To Know (TheFatRat Remix) by Gotye. As for my reading list—books 2 and 3 of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series!

You had a chance to design your own Snupped case, how was it & why did you pick that artwork of yours.

I absolutely loved it! I wanted something that I could look at and say, this is me (as cheesy as this sounds). I picked two photos—one of an ocean in Hawaii and one of some trees by my house—that show my favourite places on earth.

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a super power, what would it be?

My super power would have to be teleportation or the ability to fly. Or time control. Or be able to materialize things (mostly clothes) out of thin air.

Where do you want to travel to and why

I want to travel to Europe. I went once when I was younger, but I don’t think I appreciated it as much as I should have. My cousin actually just came back from Italy recently, so just looking at all the shopping she did makes me want to go ten times more.

If you could dress the Snupped founders (Darcy & Bryan) up today, what would you make them wear.

This is a great question. Just for fun, I’d probably do some Lady Gaga inspired outfits and put Darcy and Bryan in some crazy clothes and shoes! Now wouldn’t that be fun?!

The Mad Twins, London & Paris.

14,000 Thousand Miles For A Tale Of The Mad Twins, Paris & London.

Land Ahoy cried the little dwarf! After traveling 13756km on donkeys we finally arrived in the little city of Belgium where the people speak dutch, french, and german. Being unable to speak any of those languages, we pointed our way around, exchanged our donkeys and dwarf for some coins, and took something called the BUS! Amazing experience it was, it had little vents where air magically blew onto our faces.

We caught up with The Mad Twins, Paris & London near a patch of green paint known as grass to humanity, weird species they are. With a shield and a laser gun in hand, we were well prepared to meet the two maddies. To our horror, they gave us colourful sticks that had some sort of scent, “It’s called flowers, they make you happy!” said London. Paris simply smiled. Obviously, we didn’t believe her, up till today, we still believe its another plant that starts with the letter M.

The interrogation began…

Hello Paris & London, tell us more about yourselves and where you live!

We’re from the Belgian blog the mad twins. The title of our blog explains that we are twins and mad. We explain our imagination and inspiration in our blog. We love art and making up stories and imagining our mad world. The blog is our world where we can create everything we want. It’s almost like playing dress up and creating a personal story we would love to share with our readers. Paris studies Social Work while London is studying to become an art teacher. When we aren’t working on the blog, we are probably studying or drawing, painting,… or being crazy. We love to get away from reality and we can talk to each other for hours about nonsense.

How do we know who’s London & who’s Paris

We always, or most of the time put our name in the blog post so that you know who’s standing on the pictures. Though we look alike we have a different style. London is more playful while Paris is more serious. London dresses more romantic as Paris. Unfortunately you can’t see our brows because of the haircut, but London has a scar in her brow. That is actually the first time we reveal this “secret”.

What do the both of you love to do

We love drawing, making flowered headbands, singing, dancing (London danced 13 years ballet and modern jazz), watching movies, creating theme parties (we still have to do so many!), laughing, shopping, blogging.. and a lot more.

What was the biggest fight you both ever got into with each other

We don’t really have big fights, luckily! We sometimes can be angry but after three minutes we already forgave each other. It’s so lovely that we can forgive each other so fast.

How is Belgium like

Belgium is a special place. We are always busy with places outside Belgium we want to visit so bad, and never actually look at the place where we live. We have lovely cities like Gent and Antwerp,…, we have amazing museums and parks, monuments, artist. Belgium is small and the weather is most of the time very bad, but it certainly has something special and besides; a place can always be beautiful as long as you believe it is.

Where’s your favourite place to shop

Definitely in Antwerp! There are a lot of amazing shops. We especially love the vintage shops there. They are cheap and have a certain charm.

If the world comes to and end in 2012 and you’re only allowed to prepare one outfit, what would it be.

We would try to pick out something bright. We guess most of the people would wear black and we do agree that black was the first color that came in our minds, but it’s better to think about the good things and dress the last day cheerful. We would go for long elegant dresses colored melon yellow. Elegant and sad at the same time, though the color explains that we had a great time.

And if the world doesn’t end in 2012, what are your plans.

Of course we finish our studies and hope to find a job, keep blogging and dreaming. We hope we can have fun together and travel a lot. There are still a lot of countries we want to see!

What’s on your ipod/reading list

We listen to a lot to soundtracks and currently we listen to the soundtracks of “never let me go”. The songs are very touching. We also listen to the Japanese band Versailles at the moment. We still want to read a lot of Jane Austin books. We absolutely adore her books!

What’s your favourite snupped case and why

The ones we have chosen. The case with the owls was so cute and the colors were so expressive. It makes you happy when you look at it! The second one we have chosen was a more romantic case with lovely illustrations. It had something calm and beautiful. Though it was very hard to choose, from all the cases. There were so many amazing designs.

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a super power, what would it be?

We would love to have the ability to make people happy. It would be the most wonderful gift in the world!

Where do you want to travel to

We want to go to Japan, China, Africa, London, New York, India, Spain, Greece. We certainly want to see a lot of the world!

Any fashion advice for ladies/men

First of all, be yourself! Don’t change your style for others, your styles has to be a reflection of who you are.

With A Mouthful Of Donuts & A Whip In Hand

We were given a set of rules before meeting up with Ashley, the 20 year old artist, photographer, & donuts lover from the dark side. “Come in black, bring coffee & donuts, wear ray bans, don’t be neat, …, …” After about an hour, we were released from her prison only after we promised to bring her more donuts and buy her a plane ticket to Tokyo.

Hello Ashley, tell us more about yourself and where you live

I’m 20 years old and I’m from New Hampshire originally but I’m currently a graphic design student in Massachusetts, so the majority of my time is spent there.

What are your passions

I’m absolutely in love with fashion and combining it with photography. The whole high fashion editorial genre is my real obsession. I’m constantly working at perfecting my editing, styling, and photography skills in hopes that I could make it in some aspect of that industry. I’m also very passionate about art. I’ve done everything from classic acrylic portraits to tattoo designs and custom shoe design.I tend to fall in love with anything that involves design or being creative.

How is it like in the place you live in

It’s funny because people may look at what I wear and think that I come from some major fashion capital of the world, but I come from a small town where most people are extremely casual. New Hampshire is more of a place to watch the leaves change colors than watch a runway show. Then again, it is really a beautiful place to live if you like nature and going from below freezing winters to scorching summers. Massachusetts is far more fast paced so I much prefer being in a busy and lively atmosphere.

What’s the darkest thing you’ve ever done

Oh dear…the darkest thing I’ve ever done…. surprisingly I’m naturally kind of a “good girl” despite the fact that I wear black leather and spikes on a daily basis, but I have been known to have a pretty twisted sense of humor.

If people ask me for directions I usually tell them the exact opposite way that they need to go, or I just show up to places completely overdressed and decked out in sequins just to make people slightly uncomfortable and confused. I have little ways of being evil but I have yet to do anything absolutely sinister. Not yet. :)

Where’s your favorite place to shop

I do a lot of shopping online lately do to the fact that I’m always so busy balancing a million priorities. I’m constantly on karmaloop.com, forever 21, Asos, Hot Topic, and Solestruck’s website. I tend to buy things and then fix them up to make them my own. Etsy is also a great place to find unique items ad well!

If the world comes to and end in 2012 and you’re only allowed to prepare one outfit, what would it be
That’s a toughie, but I would have to go with my Betsey Johnson sequin mini dress and Jeffrey Campbell black suede Night Walks. And of course, I would throw a classic leather jacket over the entire ensemble. Might as well greet the end of the world with the most obnoxiously sparkly outfit out there!

And if the world doesn’t end in 2012, what are your plans

If the world doesn’t end, I plan on finishing college, and eventually traveling the world. I secretly hope to land a dream job somewhere in between the traveling and sporadic picture taking adventures, but for now I just plan on eventually attaining success in the art world somehow.

What’s on your ipod/reading list

My  poor Ipod is a jumbled mess of everything from Kanye West to the Dead Weather. Lately I’ve been addicted to Phantogram, the Black Belles, Sleigh Belles, and Lana Del Rey. Sometimes I can’t resist a bit of Nicki Minaj or Dubstep but it totally depends on my mood. My reading list is all over the place as well. I’m dying to read Imagine by Jonah Lehrer as well as Sleeping with the Enemy: Coco Chanel’s Secret War and Memoirs of a Geisha. I’m always reading international fashion magazines cover to cover so I guess you could say they earn a permanent spot on my list.

You had the opportunity to turn your own artwork into a snupped spacesuit, did you like it?

Oh I absolutely love it! It’s really cool to be able to have any of my art or prints sold. With everything being so fast paced these days I have no choice but to carry my laptop around with me at all times, so it’s lovely to have a case that reflects my personality and design aesthetic.

Tell us a secret

hmmm…a secret? I’ve had a strong desire to become a tattoo artist since I was 15. The whole tattoo industry and history is just so fascinating to me and leaves me secretly craving the opportunity to learn how to do it. I have such a high respect for anyone who can create a permanent masterpiece on the human body that I can’t help but secretly want to be one of those brilliant artists.

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a super power, what would it be?

The power to be able to cook food that actually tastes good would be just wonderful. I suppose flying would be fun but I would kill to have mad skills in the kitchen.

Any fashion advice for ladies/men
Life is just too short to wear a bad outfit so take every opportunity to be bold with what you put on everyday. Stop caring about what other people think and embrace the idea of creative freedom in how you present yourself. Mix and match, wear neon lipstick, accessorize, and be fabulous! And always add a touch of black!

What would you do if one day you found your closet totally empty? (Asked by Tricia Goingsitian)

I would cry my eyes out!! Not that I’m materialistic at all, but I view my wardrobe as a collection more than anything. I mean, people collect stamps and baseball cards and action figures, right? Kind of the same situation only my collection is being used on a daily basis. But I would pretty much be traumatized if that ever happened. They’re like my children!

Ask the next person a question

If you could raid any celebrities closet, whose would it be?

Tricia Will Go Places & So Will You

After flying all over the world to catch this lovely little doll, we finally caught her, tied her up, sat her down onto a chair, gave her a cup of coffee, and got her into an interview =) Tricia Gosingtian loves her clothes, travels and she takes pictures for a living!

Tricia, tell us more about yourself and where you live!

I’m Tricia Gosingtian, half-Chinese half-Filipino, but born and raised in sunny Manila. I take pictures for a living, but also document my work, travels, personal style and lifestyle in my blog, Tricia Will Go Places. And, I can’t drink my coffee if I’m tied up, please untie me.

What are your passions?

I’m very much inspired by Japanese aesthetics, fashion and culture. I used to be inspired by Popteen magazine when I was younger, but at the moment ViVi magazine is somewhat like my monthly fashion bible. I think it’s really the perfect embodiment of my love for both Japanese fashion and Western high street fashion.

I’m also very passionate about photography, which is my first love. Before blogging, I was really active on the Internet with my photography.

I also love food (I instagram pretty much everything I eat… and I eat a lot!) and video games.

How is it like where you live?

Wonderful! I really do think that the Philippines is such a glorious country that everybody should visit.

And, your favorite place to shop?

Topshop, Zara, Mango, Forever 21, online stores, etc.

What if the world comes to and end in 2012 and you’re only allowed to prepare one outfit, what would it be.

I’d go for something really simple, like a chic top and a nice pair of jeans. I think I’d rather focus on things other than fashion if I knew that the world will come to an end soon!

And if the world doesn’t end in 2012, what are your plans.

Travel, travel, and more travel. Also, hoping to get back to doing photography again since I was really tied down with other things last year!

What’s on your ipod/reading list

Foster the People - I Would Do Anything For You, Passion Pit - Sleepyhead, Sigur Ros - Hoppipolla, Ben Folds - The Luckiest, Two Door Cinema Club - What You Know, Damien Rice - Delicate, Phoenix - 1901, Metronomy - The Look, Arashi - Meikyuu Love Song

What’s your favourite snupped case and why

So in love with the Love de Cru print! The one for my 15” MacBook Pro is perfect.

If you were granted one wish today, what would you wish for? Don’t be greedy!

To have more wishes, of course!

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a super power, what would it be?

Time travel.

You’re always on the move, where’s next?

Europe! I’ve been to Italy before and I’m going to the UK and Paris this year. Hopefully I can go to other places in Europe like Spain, etc.

Any fashion advice for ladies/men

Be yourself.

Ask the next person a question.

What would you do if one day you found your closet totally empty?

A little bit of nadj & a little bit of cayco

Hello, tell us more about yourself

Nadia. Born and bred in the Philippines, studied and currently working in SG. I am in the IT industry, but I blog about food and fashion just for fun.

What are you passions

Computer, fashion, food and adventures.

How is it like in the place you live in

I live in both Philippines & Singapore

Philippines is a really nice place to live in or to go to because of two things: It has several beautiful and breath-taking places (so many, I haven’t even been to half of it) and the people are so friendly and oozing with positivity. That’s what makes Philippines special. As they say, it’s more fun in the Philippines! J

Singapore is a culturally-diversed country. You can learn different things from the different people and their different traditions. Oh, Singapore is also cuisine hot-spot. You can have an authentic taste of the world in just one city!

Where’s your favourite place to shop

I love Forever 21, Cotton On and Zara. For cheap finds, I always go to Bugis (Singapore)!

If the world comes to and end in 2012 and you’re only allowed to prepare one outfit, what would it be.

It’d probably my dream wedding gown. I’ve always pictured myslef on that special day, but if the end of the world is just around the corner, and by that time I’m still single, I would just wear my wedding gown. At least I’ll die happy.

And if the world doesn’t end in 2012, what are your plans.

Live my life to the fullest, love more, and be successful.

What’s on your ipod/reading list

House music and the usual latest billboard hits. I’m not much of a reader, but when I do, I like reading Sophie Kinsella’s books.

What’s your favourite snupped case and why

Of course, the owl case! Honestly, it was a difficult decision for me at first because of the numerous options and beautiful designs. But the playful contrast of the owls’ colors and the black background won my heart.

If you were granted one wish today, what would you wish for?

To have thousand more wishes!

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a super power, what would it be?

Before I would love to have the power to read other peope’s mids. But in my current situation, I would like to have the power to teleport instantly from one place to another.

Where do you want to travel to
First, I want to travel to some of the untouched or underrated parts of the Philippines, like Caramoan and Anawaning cove. Then, my next target would be Asian countries, Bangkok for one. As for my finale, I would travel to my ultimate dream destination, Greece.

Any fashion advice for ladies/men
As cliché as it may sound, do not restrict your style to the current trend or to what other people might say. Style your hearts out. And if you ever face a fashion disaster moment, treat it as a learning experience J

Maybe he already has the future mapped out, maybe it cannot be produced today but in 20 years, he might revolutionize technology again. Steve jobs, your legacy and and memory will live on forever.
