Jennifer Wang Will Avenge Planet Earth

Hello Jennifer! Firstly, you have beautiful hair, have you always had long hair?

Aww thank you so much! Yes, I have always had long hair. The shortest it has ever been is a couple inches past my shoulders. From freshman year to junior year, I didn’t cut my hair at all and it grew to past my hips! But a couple months ago, I got it trimmed, because it was actually getting too heavy!

Tell us about yourself! (Where you live, studying, parents, attached? )

I’m from California, and I’m currently a senior in high school. For college, I’m applying to art schools on the east coast. I really hope I can go to Parsons to study fashion design though! My mom inspires much of my style, and my dad, taught me the basics of cameras. I have a younger sister, who is 14, who helps take my photos. I also have 3 pets: two old english sheepdogs, Dolly & Charlie, and a chinchilla, Chin Chin!

What do you love to do during your free time and what happens when you run out of things to do?

I enjoy working on new posts for my blog, practicing my portrait drawing skills, or reading. If I run out of things to do, I will probably find something to eat or take a nap.

What about tattoos, piercings, or cigarettes?

Nope, I don’t have/do any of those things! I might get my ears pierced later on but my hair is always covering my ears so I haven’t felt the need to really! If I did get a tattoo, it would have some sort of meaning relating to my two dogs, OR it would be Iron Man or Sherlock Holmes related.

We heard you love your gold cut out cuffs, a fetish?

I do love my set of gold cut out cuffs! They have a very goddess-like feel but they also give off sci-fi vibes cause they look like gauntlets :)

An awkward moment?

Hmm… well one time when I was at the pool, I jumped on this girl’s back thinking it was my little sister… BUT IT WASN’T

Something crazy that you’d really love to do

Something crazy would be to go skydiving! Like ironman!

Where’s your favourite place to shop, do you have any tips on how to get cheap and good stuff?

My favorite place to shop is at Wasteland. Particularly the one in LA, but I also like the one in SF! To get cheap and good stuff, I recommend shopping at thrift stores, and really taking the time to look through everything. It’s also valuable to know  some basics of sewing so you can alter pieces (take them in, shorten them etc.) that you find but don’t fit you perfectly. Aside from thrift stores, I shop the most at H&M when I go the mall! eBay is also a great place to shop at!

An ideal boyfriend.

Someone who looks like Robert Downey Jr. HAHAHA, well yes, but besides that, I would like someone who is artistic, both in what they create and how they dress. They should also have a good sense of humor but at the same time, be able to have deep discussions with!

Do you find yourself a little geeky at times?

Yes. To anything Sherlock Holmes or remotely Marvel related. Thank god for Tumblr so I can fangirl in privacy with other people obsessed with the same things I am!

Do you like to travel? If so, where would you love to go?

It depends! Traveling tires me out, and I don’t like to leave my dogs for very long, but if the destination were some place really peaceful, like a warm beach and also involved going to the spa, I would enjoy it very much because I get stressed easily but it can be difficult to unwind. I will get to visit NY in the next few months though! To check out colleges and make the final decision on where I would like to go after I graduate!

Hello Vanessa, firstly, congratulations on your first original album! You must be so excited, just how much effort went into it?

Right, will you tell us more about yourself now! (Where you live, age, studying, parents, attached, when did you start singing?) I live in a humble flat in the northern part of Singapore and I’m 23 this year. I was from Ngee Ann Polytechnic and SIM-RMIT University previously. I have a pet Shetland Sheepdog named Glory and two guinea pigs, Milo Peng and PuddingEarlGreyGongChaMilkTea (Pudding for short) (Yes. I like naming my pets after my favourite drinks. Lol) I started writing my originals at the age of 14 and I’ve always loved singing since the beginning of time. It’s just my way of expressing myself.

And how were you like back in school?

You know how people talk about nature vs. nurture? I think by nature I’m a shy and introverted person, but by nurture through the years, I’ve grown to learn the art of socialising and fell in love with it. That being said, I still need time alone to reflect and recalibrate myself, especially through busy seasons and trying times.

Other than singing, what do you during your free time?

You’ll likely find me in some cafe hanging out with my friends or playing geeky games like Bananagrams or chess or something like that.

Do you have a tattoo? any plans? Smoke? piercings?

Nope. Not anytime soon :)

Describe your style of music and tell us a little about your lyrics.

I hate boxing myself in a genre per se, but people often say my music belongs to the quirky folk category. Perhaps Indie Folk/Rock would be most apt? I tend to be very honest with my lyrics as I find music a very effective and convenient medium to share heartfelt messages and experiences in people’s lives. So, I generally have someone in mind before I write a song (or at times, someones), that I want to convey a message to.

An awkward moment

Getting happy-high on Coke before a gig and burping on stage.

Something crazy/queer that you’d really love to do/done.

Own the zoo.

Where’s your favourite places to hang out, why and what’s good there

I like being in Haji Lane for all the colours and vibrancy of the place. I’m on a constant lookout for new places to hang out at. I like exploring new food, new environments and new things-to-do.

An ideal boyfriend.

Strong enough to admit his weaknesses. Secure enough to be himself totally when he’s with me. Someone who enjoys music (and it’s fine if he’s tone-deaf!) or some form of arts. Positive and fun-loving. Loves his and my family. Loves God. Embraces my crazy bunch of friends. Enjoy doing random ad-hoc things with me. Loves me. Aka. my best friend.

Do you like to travel? If so, where would you love to go?

Yes definitely, I would love to go to Barcelona all over again to experience the culture.

Amie & The Ba-na-na

We went down a flight of stairs which led to the tavern, sat down in a dark dirty corner, at a sticky round table, asked for some bananas and patiently waited for Amie. Not long, a slim figure appeared in the hall way, she was a girl, blonde long hair, petite, and seemingly a little underage for the tavern. After glancing at each other and pointing to the plate of bananas, she strolled over, by now getting quite a bit of attention. She took a seat, crossed her slender long legs, ruffled her hair, played with her piercings and rested her elbows on the sticky table. Finally, she looked straight into my eyes, grabbed my the banana and took a bite.

Hello Amie! Firstly, you’re beautiful, do you get this a lot?
Aw thankyou very much! Only people on tumblr tell me that but in real life no hahaha

Tell us about yourself! (Where you live, studying, parents, attached?
My full name is Amie-Mai Ellen smart (My mum calls me melon) I’m 17 and I live in a small town called Cheltenham – England after spending four years living in Canada.  I can’t wait to move away from here though, it’s not quite right for me. I’m studying art at college - I have loved it since I was little and I’ve always wanted to carry it out into a career. I am a massive fan of food, all kinds along with having the biggest sweet-tooth. I’m indecisive yet open-minded. I live to make people happy. I love cats. I like every genre of music apart from cringey, thoughtless modern chart-music. There are not many things that I don’t like. I also believe that Buddhism has the best teachings if you wish to be happy in life!

What do you love to do during your free time and what happens when you run out of things to do?
My free time mostly consists of being around my friends, drawing, painting and making things and the rest of my time goes to sitting on my laptop looking up weird things/ teaching myself things and tumbling on tumblr. I also actually love playing video games like a teenage boy haha.  I never run out of things to do, I’m very good at entertaining myself so I rarely get bored.

Do you have a tattoo? any plans? piercings?
I don’t have any tattoos yet but for my first one I wanted to get some sort of blossom tree design inspired by my favourite artist, Hiroshige. I also want to get a black and white triforce from the game Zelda because that game was literally my childhood and I cannot explain my undying love for it. I’m a bit of a sucker for piercings I think I have 11? Several on my ears including a tunnel, my tongue web, two on my neck and also my navel with 3 more piercings on the way, haha

Describe your design style.
It’s quite diverse really but I think mostly colourful, messy, simple yet detailed, soft, sometimes maybe a little crazy? I don’t know!

An awkward moment?
I can’t think of one :(

Something crazy/queer that you’d really love to do/done.
Probably when I jumped off a cliff into a lake in Mexico with my best friend. It was so scary but I loved it – If my mum found out she would of killed me hahaha. Something queer I would love to do is live with a pack of wolves because they are beautiful animals, even if they do try to eat me.

Where’s your favourite place to shop, do you have any tips on how to get cheap and good stuff?
Honestly I buy most of my clothes off eBay. That is the cheapest way to get all kinds of clothes – I won my favourite Versace for H&M leggings from there when they were sold out everywhere else, and I buy a lot of great vintage things from there too! When I have money though, I absolutely love American Apparel but we do not have one in the area that I live so I have to order online all the time :(

An ideal boyfriend.
Any guy who looks like Aston Kutcher, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom. They all have something in common – those amazing dark brown eyes. They make my heart melt. Personality wise I don’t have a preference – I always seem to find something deeply interesting within every person although they would need to be as crazy and stupid as me otherwise we will just not get along… They also need to be able to eat a lot with a big love for food like me. If all fails then I am more than happy to grow old with hundreds of cats.

You definitely love your bananas (no pun intended), how did you go about creating your sleeve + shirt.
Hah, well it’s inspired by the print by Andy Warhol. I saw the Velvet underground and Nico album cover and since then become obsessed with that particular banana print. I also love bananas – They  make you happy!

Do you like to travel? If so, where would you love to go?

Honestly I’m one of those cliché’s who wants to ‘travel the world.’
I want to visit the temples in Cambodia, rainforests in Brazil , beaches in Fiji, animals in South Africa, landscapes and Culture in Japan, food in Thailand(as well as everything else – that place is beautiful) And of course Pandora in Avatar – who doesn’t want to travel there? The list is forever on-going to be honest but those are at the top of my list!
amie xx

Once Upon A *Ting*

Hello Chloe! Tell us more about yourself!

Hi guys, I’m Chloe and I run a fashion blog at Chloe’s Addiction. Outside of the Internet, I’m an analyst, 26, and living in Melbourne Australia. Few random facts about me is I’m afraid of lizards, and grew up in magical kingdom called Brunei.

What do you love to do during your free time and what happens when you run out of things to do?

Outside of working hours, I spend most of my time on my blog, and when I do have free time I’m either playing videogames or watching TV shows. If I ever do find myself free time with nothing else to do, I love to take quick road trips and explore more regional areas.

What’s the most awkward moment  you ever had in your life!

Fell down while crossing the road in front of a crowd!

Tell us one evil deed that you’ve done.

Fed wasabi to a dog when I was young.

Where’s your favourite place to shop, do you have any tips on how to get cheap and good stuff?

Online - nastygal, ASOS, marketHQ.

Melbourne - GeneralPants, Brunswick St, Chapel St.

For Aussie shoppers, the cheapest way to get cheap buys is to shop online! I normally buy items from shops only if they are unique and will be something I will lose sleep over.

Top 3 songs on your ipod list and who’s your fashion inspiration.

Marina and the Diamonds - Primadonna
BoA - Only One
Birdy - Skinny Love

Hard to say just one fashion inspiration. I get my inspiration mostly from other bloggers, celebrities and fashion magazines.

You had a chance to design your own Snupped case, how was it & why did you pick that artwork of yours.

It was great! Very straightforward and easy to pick a design that calls out to you and I went with a polka-dot pink case. Went with pink just to give my iPad a little bit of femininity :)

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a super power, what would it be?

The power to teleport! So travelling the world is a breeze and I get to visit my family back home more often :)

Where do you want to travel to and why

My next travel destination on my wish list would be to Europe. I’ve been there when I was too young to remember so it would be great to visit beautiful cities like Rome and Paris.

Cupcakes & A Pink Hobbit

Hello, tell us everything about yourself and where you live!

Hi!! My name is Jasmine and I’m a 26-year-old (Gosh! I’m soo old~~sob) doctor currently working in Malaysia. I am a mere 4’11, a true hobbit if there ever was one, and I have given up hope for a second growth spurt. I am a total Francophile, I love classical literature and everything dreamy and romantic. I also love languages and at the moment is learning French and the long-forgotten language of Akkadian (albeit half-heartedly) by self-study.

What do you love to do during your free time

I am not an outdoorsy kind of person, so mostly I just stay indoors and read, play mini-games on the computer, blog-surf, play the piano or just catch some sleep after an exhausting night duty.

What’s the craziest thing a guy ever did for you

Erm, I’m not sure if by “craziest” you mean the sweetest or the creepiest, haha, but there was this guy whom I met at a bubble tea shop in Taipei. He skipped his shift and followed me through seven metro stations and a short taxi drive to ask me for my contact number and MSN. It was pretty sweet, and creepy at the same time

Tell us something bad that you want to or have done

I want to dye my hair in pastel pink or lavender, even if for a day! It isn’t bad actually, but considering where I work and the community mindset, it is definitely something unacceptable

Where’s your favourite place to shop, do you have any tips on how to get cheap and good stuff?

Ooh, there’re sooo many places to get cheap and good stuff in Taipei, where I used to live until recently. My favourite would be the small boutiques in Ximending, there’s such a large selection of affordable clothes, shoes , bags etc, that you’ll get blindsided easily and spend more than you plan to! Shopping for vintage items online is also a good way to get great value for money, the workmanship is usually pretty remarkable.

What’s on your ipod/reading list

I am currently obsessed with Genji Monogatari Sennenki OST, love the slightly melancholic vibes of traditional Japanese music. As for my reading list, that would be Micro by Michael Crichton and Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina.

You had selected a floral print, how was it & why did you pick that artwork.

Haha, I did consider designing my own using a photo of cupcakes from my blog. But I was worried the resolution would not be high enough as I usually resize my photos so that they would not take up too much memory. A pity, I really want to drool over dessert every time I use my laptop.

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a super power, what would it be?

The power of teleportation, I think. There are so many places that I wish to go, like, at once!! It will not save the world, of course, but it will save me a lot of travel expenses LOL

Where do you want to travel to and why

Oh, as a Francophile, definitely Paris (and all of France if truth be told). Actually, any other European country would satisfy me just as well, I just want to soak in the grandeur of old European architecture (and as a glutton, feast like a pig on dainty gourmet food)!

A Lonely Robot In A Wasteland

Hello, tell us everything about yourself and where you live!

I live in Tuzla which is a city in Bosnia and Herzegowina and I am a student at the faculty of sports, I should get my degree in a few months   Beside this I am a tennis coach, an amateur photograph and owner of a photograph shop, sometimes it is really hard to manage all that with blogging but I am a really hard working person so I really enjoy it.

What do you love to do during your free time

I play tennis or take photographs for my blog, and when I have more time on my hands I travel.

What’s the craziest thing a girl ever did for you

I am still waiting for that thing to happen

Tell us something bad that you want to or have done

Sometimes I want to beat up some people who annoy me but I control myself  I can’t really say I am a bad boy and I like to think of myself as a nice person.

Where’s your favourite place to shop, do you have any tips on how to get cheap and good stuff?

My favorite places to shop right now are online shops because it is really hard for me to find some items I want in my country but beside that I really enjoy shopping vintage and second hand items at flea markets and small shops, sometimes you can find great quality items there at a cheap price.

What’s on your ipod/reading list

I hate to say that I don’t really have the time to read as much as I want to , but I usually follow and read a couple of blogs and catch some good newspaper article from time to time.

You had a chance to design your own Snupped case, how was it & why did you pick that artwork of yours.

I have to admit I was inspired by the work of Missoni, whom I really admire. Designing your own bag is such a cool experience and I am really satisfied how it came out in the end. It overcome my expectations and has served me very well.

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a super power, what would it be?

Power to turn invisible whenever I want would be soo cool. Wouldn’t have anything agaist having Superman powers either, I already got the look :

my first post on lookbook

Where do you want to travel to and why

I have a huge lists of places I want to visit, I have recently been to Paris and Amsterdam so that is off my list for European cities but there are many left  And than most cities in South America and Asia.

fuckyesmaps:

This amazing hand-drawn map of London is the work of illustrator Jenni Sparks. With so many details, it’s truly one of the greatest maps we’ve seen this year. On her Behance profile, Jenni states:

I was commissioned to create a map of London that would deviate from the norm and represent the city in all it’s vibrant, historic and eccentric glory. We wanted to make something that was not aimed purely at tourists, and instead focus on the local aspect of each borough of London. The map includes social stereotypes, famous landmarks, historical information, the nightlife and other quirky facts that even locals might not know.

This was a feat of endurance, and I was spending 12-14 hours a day drawing, only stopping for short breaks to eat and make coffee!

If you need this on your wall, you can get it at Evermade.
