Jennifer Wang Will Avenge Planet Earth

Hello Jennifer! Firstly, you have beautiful hair, have you always had long hair?

Aww thank you so much! Yes, I have always had long hair. The shortest it has ever been is a couple inches past my shoulders. From freshman year to junior year, I didn’t cut my hair at all and it grew to past my hips! But a couple months ago, I got it trimmed, because it was actually getting too heavy!

Tell us about yourself! (Where you live, studying, parents, attached? )

I’m from California, and I’m currently a senior in high school. For college, I’m applying to art schools on the east coast. I really hope I can go to Parsons to study fashion design though! My mom inspires much of my style, and my dad, taught me the basics of cameras. I have a younger sister, who is 14, who helps take my photos. I also have 3 pets: two old english sheepdogs, Dolly & Charlie, and a chinchilla, Chin Chin!

What do you love to do during your free time and what happens when you run out of things to do?

I enjoy working on new posts for my blog, practicing my portrait drawing skills, or reading. If I run out of things to do, I will probably find something to eat or take a nap.

What about tattoos, piercings, or cigarettes?

Nope, I don’t have/do any of those things! I might get my ears pierced later on but my hair is always covering my ears so I haven’t felt the need to really! If I did get a tattoo, it would have some sort of meaning relating to my two dogs, OR it would be Iron Man or Sherlock Holmes related.

We heard you love your gold cut out cuffs, a fetish?

I do love my set of gold cut out cuffs! They have a very goddess-like feel but they also give off sci-fi vibes cause they look like gauntlets :)

An awkward moment?

Hmm… well one time when I was at the pool, I jumped on this girl’s back thinking it was my little sister… BUT IT WASN’T

Something crazy that you’d really love to do

Something crazy would be to go skydiving! Like ironman!

Where’s your favourite place to shop, do you have any tips on how to get cheap and good stuff?

My favorite place to shop is at Wasteland. Particularly the one in LA, but I also like the one in SF! To get cheap and good stuff, I recommend shopping at thrift stores, and really taking the time to look through everything. It’s also valuable to know  some basics of sewing so you can alter pieces (take them in, shorten them etc.) that you find but don’t fit you perfectly. Aside from thrift stores, I shop the most at H&M when I go the mall! eBay is also a great place to shop at!

An ideal boyfriend.

Someone who looks like Robert Downey Jr. HAHAHA, well yes, but besides that, I would like someone who is artistic, both in what they create and how they dress. They should also have a good sense of humor but at the same time, be able to have deep discussions with!

Do you find yourself a little geeky at times?

Yes. To anything Sherlock Holmes or remotely Marvel related. Thank god for Tumblr so I can fangirl in privacy with other people obsessed with the same things I am!

Do you like to travel? If so, where would you love to go?

It depends! Traveling tires me out, and I don’t like to leave my dogs for very long, but if the destination were some place really peaceful, like a warm beach and also involved going to the spa, I would enjoy it very much because I get stressed easily but it can be difficult to unwind. I will get to visit NY in the next few months though! To check out colleges and make the final decision on where I would like to go after I graduate!

Hello Vanessa, firstly, congratulations on your first original album! You must be so excited, just how much effort went into it?

Right, will you tell us more about yourself now! (Where you live, age, studying, parents, attached, when did you start singing?) I live in a humble flat in the northern part of Singapore and I’m 23 this year. I was from Ngee Ann Polytechnic and SIM-RMIT University previously. I have a pet Shetland Sheepdog named Glory and two guinea pigs, Milo Peng and PuddingEarlGreyGongChaMilkTea (Pudding for short) (Yes. I like naming my pets after my favourite drinks. Lol) I started writing my originals at the age of 14 and I’ve always loved singing since the beginning of time. It’s just my way of expressing myself.

And how were you like back in school?

You know how people talk about nature vs. nurture? I think by nature I’m a shy and introverted person, but by nurture through the years, I’ve grown to learn the art of socialising and fell in love with it. That being said, I still need time alone to reflect and recalibrate myself, especially through busy seasons and trying times.

Other than singing, what do you during your free time?

You’ll likely find me in some cafe hanging out with my friends or playing geeky games like Bananagrams or chess or something like that.

Do you have a tattoo? any plans? Smoke? piercings?

Nope. Not anytime soon :)

Describe your style of music and tell us a little about your lyrics.

I hate boxing myself in a genre per se, but people often say my music belongs to the quirky folk category. Perhaps Indie Folk/Rock would be most apt? I tend to be very honest with my lyrics as I find music a very effective and convenient medium to share heartfelt messages and experiences in people’s lives. So, I generally have someone in mind before I write a song (or at times, someones), that I want to convey a message to.

An awkward moment

Getting happy-high on Coke before a gig and burping on stage.

Something crazy/queer that you’d really love to do/done.

Own the zoo.

Where’s your favourite places to hang out, why and what’s good there

I like being in Haji Lane for all the colours and vibrancy of the place. I’m on a constant lookout for new places to hang out at. I like exploring new food, new environments and new things-to-do.

An ideal boyfriend.

Strong enough to admit his weaknesses. Secure enough to be himself totally when he’s with me. Someone who enjoys music (and it’s fine if he’s tone-deaf!) or some form of arts. Positive and fun-loving. Loves his and my family. Loves God. Embraces my crazy bunch of friends. Enjoy doing random ad-hoc things with me. Loves me. Aka. my best friend.

Do you like to travel? If so, where would you love to go?

Yes definitely, I would love to go to Barcelona all over again to experience the culture.

Amie & The Ba-na-na

We went down a flight of stairs which led to the tavern, sat down in a dark dirty corner, at a sticky round table, asked for some bananas and patiently waited for Amie. Not long, a slim figure appeared in the hall way, she was a girl, blonde long hair, petite, and seemingly a little underage for the tavern. After glancing at each other and pointing to the plate of bananas, she strolled over, by now getting quite a bit of attention. She took a seat, crossed her slender long legs, ruffled her hair, played with her piercings and rested her elbows on the sticky table. Finally, she looked straight into my eyes, grabbed my the banana and took a bite.

Hello Amie! Firstly, you’re beautiful, do you get this a lot?
Aw thankyou very much! Only people on tumblr tell me that but in real life no hahaha

Tell us about yourself! (Where you live, studying, parents, attached?
My full name is Amie-Mai Ellen smart (My mum calls me melon) I’m 17 and I live in a small town called Cheltenham – England after spending four years living in Canada.  I can’t wait to move away from here though, it’s not quite right for me. I’m studying art at college - I have loved it since I was little and I’ve always wanted to carry it out into a career. I am a massive fan of food, all kinds along with having the biggest sweet-tooth. I’m indecisive yet open-minded. I live to make people happy. I love cats. I like every genre of music apart from cringey, thoughtless modern chart-music. There are not many things that I don’t like. I also believe that Buddhism has the best teachings if you wish to be happy in life!

What do you love to do during your free time and what happens when you run out of things to do?
My free time mostly consists of being around my friends, drawing, painting and making things and the rest of my time goes to sitting on my laptop looking up weird things/ teaching myself things and tumbling on tumblr. I also actually love playing video games like a teenage boy haha.  I never run out of things to do, I’m very good at entertaining myself so I rarely get bored.

Do you have a tattoo? any plans? piercings?
I don’t have any tattoos yet but for my first one I wanted to get some sort of blossom tree design inspired by my favourite artist, Hiroshige. I also want to get a black and white triforce from the game Zelda because that game was literally my childhood and I cannot explain my undying love for it. I’m a bit of a sucker for piercings I think I have 11? Several on my ears including a tunnel, my tongue web, two on my neck and also my navel with 3 more piercings on the way, haha

Describe your design style.
It’s quite diverse really but I think mostly colourful, messy, simple yet detailed, soft, sometimes maybe a little crazy? I don’t know!

An awkward moment?
I can’t think of one :(

Something crazy/queer that you’d really love to do/done.
Probably when I jumped off a cliff into a lake in Mexico with my best friend. It was so scary but I loved it – If my mum found out she would of killed me hahaha. Something queer I would love to do is live with a pack of wolves because they are beautiful animals, even if they do try to eat me.

Where’s your favourite place to shop, do you have any tips on how to get cheap and good stuff?
Honestly I buy most of my clothes off eBay. That is the cheapest way to get all kinds of clothes – I won my favourite Versace for H&M leggings from there when they were sold out everywhere else, and I buy a lot of great vintage things from there too! When I have money though, I absolutely love American Apparel but we do not have one in the area that I live so I have to order online all the time :(

An ideal boyfriend.
Any guy who looks like Aston Kutcher, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom. They all have something in common – those amazing dark brown eyes. They make my heart melt. Personality wise I don’t have a preference – I always seem to find something deeply interesting within every person although they would need to be as crazy and stupid as me otherwise we will just not get along… They also need to be able to eat a lot with a big love for food like me. If all fails then I am more than happy to grow old with hundreds of cats.

You definitely love your bananas (no pun intended), how did you go about creating your sleeve + shirt.
Hah, well it’s inspired by the print by Andy Warhol. I saw the Velvet underground and Nico album cover and since then become obsessed with that particular banana print. I also love bananas – They  make you happy!

Do you like to travel? If so, where would you love to go?

Honestly I’m one of those cliché’s who wants to ‘travel the world.’
I want to visit the temples in Cambodia, rainforests in Brazil , beaches in Fiji, animals in South Africa, landscapes and Culture in Japan, food in Thailand(as well as everything else – that place is beautiful) And of course Pandora in Avatar – who doesn’t want to travel there? The list is forever on-going to be honest but those are at the top of my list!

Once Upon A *Ting*

Hello Chloe! Tell us more about yourself!

Hi guys, I’m Chloe and I run a fashion blog at Chloe’s Addiction. Outside of the Internet, I’m an analyst, 26, and living in Melbourne Australia. Few random facts about me is I’m afraid of lizards, and grew up in magical kingdom called Brunei.

What do you love to do during your free time and what happens when you run out of things to do?

Outside of working hours, I spend most of my time on my blog, and when I do have free time I’m either playing videogames or watching TV shows. If I ever do find myself free time with nothing else to do, I love to take quick road trips and explore more regional areas.

What’s the most awkward moment  you ever had in your life!

Fell down while crossing the road in front of a crowd!

Tell us one evil deed that you’ve done.

Fed wasabi to a dog when I was young.

Where’s your favourite place to shop, do you have any tips on how to get cheap and good stuff?

Online - nastygal, ASOS, marketHQ.

Melbourne - GeneralPants, Brunswick St, Chapel St.

For Aussie shoppers, the cheapest way to get cheap buys is to shop online! I normally buy items from shops only if they are unique and will be something I will lose sleep over.

Top 3 songs on your ipod list and who’s your fashion inspiration.

Marina and the Diamonds - Primadonna
BoA - Only One
Birdy - Skinny Love

Hard to say just one fashion inspiration. I get my inspiration mostly from other bloggers, celebrities and fashion magazines.

You had a chance to design your own Snupped case, how was it & why did you pick that artwork of yours.

It was great! Very straightforward and easy to pick a design that calls out to you and I went with a polka-dot pink case. Went with pink just to give my iPad a little bit of femininity :)

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a super power, what would it be?

The power to teleport! So travelling the world is a breeze and I get to visit my family back home more often :)

Where do you want to travel to and why

My next travel destination on my wish list would be to Europe. I’ve been there when I was too young to remember so it would be great to visit beautiful cities like Rome and Paris.

A Lonely Robot In A Wasteland

Hello, tell us everything about yourself and where you live!

I live in Tuzla which is a city in Bosnia and Herzegowina and I am a student at the faculty of sports, I should get my degree in a few months   Beside this I am a tennis coach, an amateur photograph and owner of a photograph shop, sometimes it is really hard to manage all that with blogging but I am a really hard working person so I really enjoy it.

What do you love to do during your free time

I play tennis or take photographs for my blog, and when I have more time on my hands I travel.

What’s the craziest thing a girl ever did for you

I am still waiting for that thing to happen

Tell us something bad that you want to or have done

Sometimes I want to beat up some people who annoy me but I control myself  I can’t really say I am a bad boy and I like to think of myself as a nice person.

Where’s your favourite place to shop, do you have any tips on how to get cheap and good stuff?

My favorite places to shop right now are online shops because it is really hard for me to find some items I want in my country but beside that I really enjoy shopping vintage and second hand items at flea markets and small shops, sometimes you can find great quality items there at a cheap price.

What’s on your ipod/reading list

I hate to say that I don’t really have the time to read as much as I want to , but I usually follow and read a couple of blogs and catch some good newspaper article from time to time.

You had a chance to design your own Snupped case, how was it & why did you pick that artwork of yours.

I have to admit I was inspired by the work of Missoni, whom I really admire. Designing your own bag is such a cool experience and I am really satisfied how it came out in the end. It overcome my expectations and has served me very well.

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a super power, what would it be?

Power to turn invisible whenever I want would be soo cool. Wouldn’t have anything agaist having Superman powers either, I already got the look :

my first post on lookbook

http://lookbook.nu/look/1072845-SUPERMAN

Where do you want to travel to and why

I have a huge lists of places I want to visit, I have recently been to Paris and Amsterdam so that is off my list for European cities but there are many left  And than most cities in South America and Asia.

Hello Joie, tell us about yourself and where you live!

Hello! I’m Joie and I’m seventeen this year and happily residing in sunny Singapore. I’m currently waiting to school in La Salle, where I’ll graduate with a Diploma in Music. Singing has always been such a joy for me, it’s the best form of expression. I’m an only child and it does get lonely at times. I guess that’s how I developed my love for music! My dad and mom actually sing too, so yea.

What do you love to do during your free time

There’s actually so much to do! Movies, coffee, friends, singing, jamming, reading, going to church, jamming! The list goes on! Oh, I have this little thing for my guitar, she’s always there for me when I”m lonely, very sweet!

You love surprises don’t you, tell us more!

Definitely! Actually, there was this once where I remember so well. It was a terrible day for me and cramps were literally killing me, I thought it was the end of the world until an uninvited guest showed up at my door with a box of chocolates and pills to save me! I was genuinely so touched, it’s times like these where it matters the most! *guys, hint hint*

AND!!! I have to tell you one more. A girlfriend of mine did the sweetest thing for me on my birthday. She got balloons (oh they’re so pretty), cards, gifts and most importantly, all my friends together, planned a SURPRISE lunch and took the effort to get tiaras for all of us! To make it even better, I had all the attention cause my tiara was the BIGGEST!

Tell us something mean that you want to or have done

Oh dear, must I really! Ok I must share this although I’m really not a big bully at all ok! I had this classmate who sat in front of me in class. She had really puffy curly hair, like CANDY FLOSS! Then the day finally came, a teacher was the reason for what I did. He was boring us to death and I had to find something to entertain myself and guess who did! That’s right, I decided to put stationery in her hair, bit by bit, one by one. It actually stayed inside until she turned around to talk to me. It then all flew out like bees leaving their hives! We’ve been really close friends since!

Would you consider yourself an impulsive person, why

I would! Because I often feel regretful. Haha, but it has gotten better. I always do something, get all red and embarrassed and regret it later. This is always because I never think twice before I do it, I better not choose a boy this way.

If the world comes to and end in 2012 and you have 3 minutes to sing a song, what would it be?

Probably Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus! I love that song.

And if the world doesn’t end in 2012, what are your plans.

I would love to continue doing music and pursue it.

Where’s your favourite place to shop

Shopping!!! It’s my specialty, haha! I love Forever 21 and flea markets, it’s always so lovely to finally something cheap and nice after a whole day of searching. On the days I get lazy, I simply move my mouse and click on different websites! We have really cool online shops in singapore which are called blogshops! They are simply bloggers who sell things on their blogs and we call them blogshops. Ok, maybe everyone else does!

What’s on your ipod/reading list

I have 1544 songs, 69 videos and about 200 pictures? I’m actually very into Indie music now. Some of my greatest influences are Norah Jones, Mandy Moore and Alicia Keys.

You had a chance to customise your own Snupped case, how was it & why did you pick that design?

I love my Snupped case to bits! I picked that design cuz I fell in love with the print when I first saw it! It came with my favourite red polka dots on the interior. P.s My favourite colour is red hehehe

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a super power, what would it be?

Definitely to be Invisible so that I can sneak around and watch people going unnoticed, + I can put more stationaries in people’s hair!

Where do you want to travel to and why

Kenya. I have always wanted to go to Kenya. I just want to spend time with the kids and play games with them!

If you could sing a song for Snupped, what would you sing?

Happy by NeverShoutNever! Haha.

Sparkle me Alyssa Lau…

We caught up with Alyssa in Canada over the weekend. Time wasn’t on our side and with the sun fast setting we had to make it really quick, Alyssa warned us that she’ll turn into a monster if the weather turns too cold. Have fun!

Unable to move, we offered her our thoughts…

Hello, tell us everything about yourself and where you live!

Hello! My name is Alyssa, and I’m a 20-year-old 3rd-year Chemistry Major who lives in a place too cold for my liking (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada). Contrary to popular belief, Canada isn’t actually that cold. I just like to complain about the weather. If you wanted to know everything about me, my birthday is in February, I’m almost 5’6, and I’ve recently dyed my hair after telling myself for 8 years that I would never dye it again. I get bored easily with things, and I guess blogging helps to alleviate this incessant boredom. Most people assume that I can speak Chinese, but weirdly enough, I can speak more French than Chinese, and that’s not saying too much.

What do you do during your free time

I enjoy blogging in what spare time I have, but other than that, I sometimes like to play soccer if I’m not too lazy and I thoroughly enjoy taking my camera out for walks when it’s not too cold outside. I also like to play video games when I can scrape up enough time.

Who’s the guy who blogs with you at theordinarypeople and have you every gotten into a big fight with him

Kurtis would be his name. He’s my cousin and is a year younger than me. We’ve actually always gotten along pretty well. The biggest fight we had was probably when we were much younger (let’s say 5 years old) and playing with Pokemon toys. Even then I don’t think we fought.

Tell us something naughty that you want to or have done

Something naughty that I want to do would probably get a tattoo. Heck, it’s a little depressing that this is considered ‘naughty’, but my parents would not be too pleased with me if I did so.

Would you consider yourself an impulsive person, why

I wouldn’t quite consider myself an impulsive person most of the time. It really depends on my mood. I like to think that I’m relatively calm and collected…

If the world comes to and end in 2012 and you’re only allowed to prepare one outfit, what would it be

If I was only allowed to prepare one outfit for the end of the world, it’d have to be something insanely comfortable. So I might have to choose what I’m wearing right now—super comfy leopard-print leggings and my Sid Neigum tee. I might as well add in a pair of sneakers with that.

Where’s your favourite place to shop

My favourite place to shop would be sample sales, Urban Outfitters, or anywhere online. Words cannot express my love for shopping.

What’s on your ipod/reading list

Currently on replay on my iPod is Golden Baby by Coeur de Pirate, Call me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen (it’s addicting!), Titanium by David Guetta Ft. Sia, and Somebody That I Used To Know (TheFatRat Remix) by Gotye. As for my reading list—books 2 and 3 of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series!

You had a chance to design your own Snupped case, how was it & why did you pick that artwork of yours.

I absolutely loved it! I wanted something that I could look at and say, this is me (as cheesy as this sounds). I picked two photos—one of an ocean in Hawaii and one of some trees by my house—that show my favourite places on earth.

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a super power, what would it be?

My super power would have to be teleportation or the ability to fly. Or time control. Or be able to materialize things (mostly clothes) out of thin air.

Where do you want to travel to and why

I want to travel to Europe. I went once when I was younger, but I don’t think I appreciated it as much as I should have. My cousin actually just came back from Italy recently, so just looking at all the shopping she did makes me want to go ten times more.

If you could dress the Snupped founders (Darcy & Bryan) up today, what would you make them wear.

This is a great question. Just for fun, I’d probably do some Lady Gaga inspired outfits and put Darcy and Bryan in some crazy clothes and shoes! Now wouldn’t that be fun?!

The Mad Twins, London & Paris.

14,000 Thousand Miles For A Tale Of The Mad Twins, Paris & London.

Land Ahoy cried the little dwarf! After traveling 13756km on donkeys we finally arrived in the little city of Belgium where the people speak dutch, french, and german. Being unable to speak any of those languages, we pointed our way around, exchanged our donkeys and dwarf for some coins, and took something called the BUS! Amazing experience it was, it had little vents where air magically blew onto our faces.

We caught up with The Mad Twins, Paris & London near a patch of green paint known as grass to humanity, weird species they are. With a shield and a laser gun in hand, we were well prepared to meet the two maddies. To our horror, they gave us colourful sticks that had some sort of scent, “It’s called flowers, they make you happy!” said London. Paris simply smiled. Obviously, we didn’t believe her, up till today, we still believe its another plant that starts with the letter M.

The interrogation began…

Hello Paris & London, tell us more about yourselves and where you live!

We’re from the Belgian blog the mad twins. The title of our blog explains that we are twins and mad. We explain our imagination and inspiration in our blog. We love art and making up stories and imagining our mad world. The blog is our world where we can create everything we want. It’s almost like playing dress up and creating a personal story we would love to share with our readers. Paris studies Social Work while London is studying to become an art teacher. When we aren’t working on the blog, we are probably studying or drawing, painting,… or being crazy. We love to get away from reality and we can talk to each other for hours about nonsense.

How do we know who’s London & who’s Paris

We always, or most of the time put our name in the blog post so that you know who’s standing on the pictures. Though we look alike we have a different style. London is more playful while Paris is more serious. London dresses more romantic as Paris. Unfortunately you can’t see our brows because of the haircut, but London has a scar in her brow. That is actually the first time we reveal this “secret”.

What do the both of you love to do

We love drawing, making flowered headbands, singing, dancing (London danced 13 years ballet and modern jazz), watching movies, creating theme parties (we still have to do so many!), laughing, shopping, blogging.. and a lot more.

What was the biggest fight you both ever got into with each other

We don’t really have big fights, luckily! We sometimes can be angry but after three minutes we already forgave each other. It’s so lovely that we can forgive each other so fast.

How is Belgium like

Belgium is a special place. We are always busy with places outside Belgium we want to visit so bad, and never actually look at the place where we live. We have lovely cities like Gent and Antwerp,…, we have amazing museums and parks, monuments, artist. Belgium is small and the weather is most of the time very bad, but it certainly has something special and besides; a place can always be beautiful as long as you believe it is.

Where’s your favourite place to shop

Definitely in Antwerp! There are a lot of amazing shops. We especially love the vintage shops there. They are cheap and have a certain charm.

If the world comes to and end in 2012 and you’re only allowed to prepare one outfit, what would it be.

We would try to pick out something bright. We guess most of the people would wear black and we do agree that black was the first color that came in our minds, but it’s better to think about the good things and dress the last day cheerful. We would go for long elegant dresses colored melon yellow. Elegant and sad at the same time, though the color explains that we had a great time.

And if the world doesn’t end in 2012, what are your plans.

Of course we finish our studies and hope to find a job, keep blogging and dreaming. We hope we can have fun together and travel a lot. There are still a lot of countries we want to see!

What’s on your ipod/reading list

We listen to a lot to soundtracks and currently we listen to the soundtracks of “never let me go”. The songs are very touching. We also listen to the Japanese band Versailles at the moment. We still want to read a lot of Jane Austin books. We absolutely adore her books!

What’s your favourite snupped case and why

The ones we have chosen. The case with the owls was so cute and the colors were so expressive. It makes you happy when you look at it! The second one we have chosen was a more romantic case with lovely illustrations. It had something calm and beautiful. Though it was very hard to choose, from all the cases. There were so many amazing designs.

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a super power, what would it be?

We would love to have the ability to make people happy. It would be the most wonderful gift in the world!

Where do you want to travel to

We want to go to Japan, China, Africa, London, New York, India, Spain, Greece. We certainly want to see a lot of the world!

Any fashion advice for ladies/men

First of all, be yourself! Don’t change your style for others, your styles has to be a reflection of who you are.

We live in a secret underground cave and we dedicate our lives to doing nothing but creating the funkiest coolest customizable laptop sleeves.
